The ASCVD Risk Estimator Plus is developed by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) to provide an individualized estimate of a patient’s 10-year risk of developing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and overall lifetime risk histories.
It uses the pooled cohort equation to estimate the initial 10-year ASCVD risk of a patient, and provides an individualized, evidence-based, risk-guided intervention approach for managing primary prevention of ASCVD.
The app also projects the impact of specific interventions on a patient’s risk, and guides clinician-patient discussion around customizing an intervention plan. Additionally, it updates risk at follow-up based on a patient’s response to therapy using the Million Hearts Longitudinal model. The app’s advice is derived from various ACC/AHA Guidelines.
