Headache
Headaches are one of the most common medical complaints, with virtually everyone experiencing them at some point. Headaches can range from a mild, occasional annoyance to severe, debilitating pain impacting daily activities. Headaches can be classified into various types, with tension headaches being the most common, characterized by a dull, aching sensation all over the head. Migraines, another type, are often more intense and pulsating, sometimes accompanied by other symptoms like sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and visual disturbances known as auras. Cluster headaches, though less common, are extremely painful and occur in cyclical patterns or clusters. The etiology of headaches are varied and can include stress, muscle tension, dehydration, eye strain, sinus congestion, lack of sleep, certain foods, or medical conditions. Treatment of headaches is based on the type and cause of the headache and may include over-the-counter pain relief, prescription medications, lifestyle changes, and relaxation techniques. Medical evaluation is important for chronic or severe headaches to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment.
