CoQ10
CoQ10, also known as Coenzyme Q10, is a naturally occurring, fat-soluble compound that is critical in cellular energy generation. CoQ10 is found in every body cell and is essential for converting energy from carbohydrates and fats into adenosine triphosphate (ATP). It is particularly concentrated in high-energy-demand organs like the heart, liver, and kidneys. CoQ10 also functions as an antioxidant and shields cells from free radical oxidative damage. Levels of CoQ10 in the body may decline with age and in certain health conditions, leading to the use of CoQ10 supplements. They have been explored for their potential in managing conditions like heart failure, migraines, and statin-induced myopathy. While CoQ10 is generally considered safe, more research is needed to confirm its efficacy for various health conditions.
