National Institute of Aging
The National Institute of Aging (NIA) is a part of the United States of America National Institutes of Health (NIH), which is dedicated to understanding the nature of aging and the aging process, including associated diseases and conditions. Established in 1974, the National Institute of Aging (NIA) conducts and supports biomedical, social, and behavioral research to improve the health and well-being of the geriatric population. Its research agenda covers a broad spectrum, including the biological and medical aspects of aging, neuroscience and Alzheimer’s disease, geriatrics, and the social and behavioral aspects of aging.
