Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is a malignancy that affects the prostate gland. It is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among men, particularly older men and those with a family history of the disease. Prostate cancer tends to grow slowly and initially remains confined to the prostate gland. During this stage, it may not cause serious harm. Certain types of prostate cancer behave differently; they can be aggressive and spread quickly. Therefore, early detection of prostate cancer through screening methods like blood tests for Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and digital rectal exams are essential. Treatment modalities vary and depend on the stage and type of prostate cancer. Treatment modalities can range from surveillance for low-risk cases to surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these treatments for more advanced stages.
