Depression
Depression is a common but serious psychiatric disorder that profoundly affects how a person feels, thinks, and handles daily activities. Individuals affected by depressions shows feelings of hopelessness, sadness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities. Causes of depression is manyfold including genetic factors, biochemical imbalances, environmental stressors, and psychological issues. Its symptoms vary but often include changes in appetite or weight, sleep disturbances, decreased energy, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty thinking or concentrating, and recurrent thoughts of death or suicide. Depression requires a clinical diagnosis and is treated with a medications, such as antidepressants and/or psychotherapy. Addressing lifestyle factors, including exercise, diet, and social connections play a crucial role in managing depression. It’s essential to recognize that depression is not just a transient mood or a sign of personal weakness but a treatable health condition.
