AI/ML: Magentiq Eye Automatic Polyp Detection System (ME-APDS)

Key points:

  • Magentiq Eye Automatic Polyp Detection System (ME-APDS) incorporates advanced AI technologies, including Computer-Aided Polyp Detection (CADe) engine and Deep Neural Networks (DNN) to identify potential mucosal abnormalities during colonoscopies, improving detection rates without altering the video stream.
  • Designed to work with standard white-light endoscopy imaging, ME-APDS highlights suspicious areas, aiding in the early detection of colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal diseases. However, it doesn’t replace histopathological analysis.
  • Developed by Magentiq Eye Ltd., the system received FDA pre-market approval on July 25, 2023, marking a significant milestone.

The Magentiq Eye’s Automatic Polyp Detection System is a groundbreaking advancement utilizing AI to enhance the accuracy of colonoscopies.

In gastroenterology, the advent of advanced technologies has significantly enhanced the accuracy and efficiency of diagnostic procedures, particularly colonoscopies, which are crucial for the early detection of colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal diseases. One such innovation is the Magentiq Eye’s Automatic Polyp Detection System (ME-APDS), also known as MAGENTIQ-COLO™.

Magentiq Eye Automatic Polyp Detection System

The Magentiq Eye’s Automatic Polyp Detection System (ME-APDS) is a computer-aided detection system used during video colonoscopy procedures to assist endoscopists in identifying lesions like polyps. It processes video frames in real-time, highlighting suspicious areas without altering the video stream.

ME-APDS uses a Computer-Aided Polyp Detection (CADe) engine and Deep Neural Networks (DNN) for real-time lesion detection.

Indications

The system is designed to highlight potential mucosal abnormalities such as polyps during colonoscopy. It is not a diagnostic tool nor a replacement for histopathological sampling. It is limited to use with standard white-light endoscopy imaging.

This AI device was developed by Magentiq Eye Ltd. and received FDA pre-market approval notification on 7/25/2023.

Similar devices are GI Genius from Cosmo Pharma.
