ABAD Model
Colorectal cancer patients have a higher risk of developing venous thromboembolism (VTE) compared to others. Researchers have developed a risk assessment model called ABAD to address this concern. The study focuses on developing this model, which can predict the occurrence of VTE in colorectal cancer patients.
VTE risk factors
Researchers retrospectively analyzed 528 patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer between January 2019 and January 2021. Using logistic regression, they identified four key risk factors for VTE: age, body mass index, activated partial thromboplastin time, and D-Dimer value.
Based on these factors, the ABAD model demonstrated good predictive accuracy with an area under the curve of 0.705. Its performance was validated internally through various methods like 10-fold cross-verification, leave-one-out cross-validation, and Bootstrap verification, showing a consistent concordance index.
